Hi all, my brother upgraded his pc about 6 months ago from win XP to Vista home prem through a HDD fail, plus his misses had cleaned the pc so much, she rubbed the code off the XP sticker..
His system specs are low for vista but nether less it should run fine, which it has apart from it taking 7-10min to boot. When booted everything runs a dream. He asked me last night is there anyway to boot faster, so i thought put it into standby then reload time would be shorter. So put it into standby alls good but When windows has finished puttin it into standby and the light flashes green on the case every fan is still runing. cpu fan, case fan,psu fan, everything else is off. Is there away to turn all fans off with this pc using standby? I tried it on mine this mornin hit standby and everything turned off straight away fans the lot. Puzzled..

The spec
Packard Bell ixtreme 6082
Mobo ECS K7S5A
Athlon xp 2200+ 1.8ghz
2 gig DDR ram pc2700??
GF 5200fx 128
160gig HDD (replacement)
Vista Home Premium SP2

It's to do with Vista itself. Try changing the options under the Power Options in the control panel.

putting a computer into standby may make it boot faster however, it slows down the performance in the OS as it fills the memory, not a good idea.

Tried all power settings in vista inc advance and took a look in his bios for suspend to ram etc in power options, no options there only wake on lan and O/S power managment. Also put a spare hiper typeR 480W psu i have to see if the old psu was at fault no avail. It will however hibernate and everythings off, but it takes as long if not longer to start than a full reboot.
So sounds like the board dosent support S3 only S1 and S4? Also tried dumppo.exe proggy wont even install so that options gone. Is there anymore progs like dumppo for controling vistas power options?
