Hi Jen7 and welcome!

As far as I know windows deletes restore points after a certain amount of time in order to conserve space on the hard drive, thats why you can only go as far as April. You may have to do a clean install of windows to get back to the laptops original settings.

What brand of laptop do you have? When you bought the laptops did you get a set of CDs with it? Do you still have them? Included in the set of CDs should be some 'restore disks'. These will basically reinstall windows on your laptop.

First make sure that you have everything you need backed up as reinstalling will wipe the hard drive. Then you'll need to boot the computer from the CD, so make sure the CD is in the computer when you turn it off and then start it up again - you may need to press a key to boot from the CD. After that just follow the prompts when they appear.

Some brands such as Sony dont ship with restore disks as they are built-in so you can reinstall windows from a menu option in vaio central.

Does this help?
