I got the SATA drivers from Intel - downloaded Intel Matrix Storage Manager and selected 82801HEM/HBM (ICH8M).

Created a Win XP CD complete with SATA drivers using nLite (see http://icrontic.com/printcontent.php?print=r&id=284 for instructions) and away you go.

You need to download XP drivers for pretty much everything, including network adaptors (I transferred files from my operational PC using a USB thumb drive). Dell web site has most of these easily available on the support part of the site, but sound was a bit tricky to find - it's at http://support.us.dell.com/support/d...&fileid=205136

Good Luck,
Soren

Well, Windows XP install wizard asks the user to press the respective key for them to install needed drivers. Didn't you notice that?

True, but not very helpful when you don't have a floppy drive.

alternatively, you can change SATA mode from AHCI to ATA at BIOS, but maybe with some loss of features/performance...

I plan on doing this same thing as well however I'm a bit more of a novice.
Can anyone (if they have the time) give me a step by step on how to do this?
I need to get the driver installed for the SATA HDD to install. I have a version of WindowsXP with a disk that is ready to go. However I've had a hard time getting the driver from Intel, tried searching and got all sorts of FAQs and Manuals but nothing specific) - I'd need to know where to store this file (like what types of devices can I store it on since I have the cd-rom for xp and the only other things are usb) and then I think from there I'd be fine.

Have you tried Dell for the driver?

I did this and it seems to be working fine. I got WindowsXP loaded onto the computer but the wireless card, video card, sound card, etc aren't working at full capacity because of the proper drivers not being present.

I have and the versions I keep finding are for Vista only. I have tried downloading stuff from the manufacturers but so far that hasn't worked. I'm running Windows XP Pro.

I need to find drivers for the following items for XP pro...
Nvidia GeForce 8400M
Intel 3945 WLAN 802.11a/g mini card
Sound blaster Audigy (integrated)
Dell 355 Bluetooth mod

Any help is appreciated.
