You need to download XP drivers for pretty much everything, including network adaptors (I transferred files from my operational PC using a USB thumb drive). Dell web site has most of these easily available on the support part of the site, but sound was a bit tricky to find - it's at http://support.us.dell.com/support/d...&fileid=205136

Good Luck,
Soren
Sorry for bringing up an old thread but I get stuck at the second part. I've already downloaded the Intel Matrix Storage Manager. But what do I do after that?

You incorporate those drivers into the Win XP installation CD (well you actually Frankenstein the drivers with your existing XP CD to create a new mega 'XP complete with SATA drivers' CD). It looks like the instructions I referred to have since been moved, but I think they are now at http://icrontic.com/articles/slipstreaming_windows_easy

I just looked at it like I was trying to teach myself speedreading, so I'm not 100% it's the same, but I think it has what you are looking for. Check it out.

Hi,

Every PC is different, each needs it's own set of drivers.

thanks dave, i was wondering should i buy the dell inspiron 1520 default with xp pro, by adding it and paying an extra £23.50, or should i get it with vista home premium then buy an xp pro sticker for £30.00 meaning i will get vista effectively for £6.50, is it worth the hassle of downgrading, etc, and if i do downgrade it myself will everything work i.e. wifi catcher media buttons etc, thanks
anas
any replies will be helpful
thanks
