I have never been able to get a screensaver on this machine. When It is idle for awhile it goes directly into sleep mode (monitor shuts down) without going to a preselected screensaver. I know I have not set the machine up properly, can anyone help me do so.

Control panel > Appearance and Personalisation > Personalisation > Screen saver

a popup window will appear. click the drop down box. Select the screen saver you want.

Directly under the drop down box there will be text saying "wait" next to this there is a box. change the value in the box to how long you want to wait for the screen saver.

    if that doesn't work:

Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power options

select the balanced power options box and click personalise

you can now change the "turn off monitor" and "put the computer to sleep options." if you increase these times, it should allow your screensaver to come on before the computer goes to sleep.
