| I have found a very odd thing that Vista is doing with a search that I am performing. It is not finding all the files in a particular directory. I have a directory with 30 files in it. On the Search box at the top of that Folder's window, I enter ".mkv" It displays 5 of the files in that directory which have an extension of .mkv BUT there are 9 files that fit the description. Ie. It should have found 9 files NOT 5 I also tried searching on a string in the middle of the file name and it should return 10 names but it is only returning 8. These files are not Hidden or System or Readonly, etc. What is extra odd about this is that I have tried searching on a common string in another directory and it correctly finds ALL the files which have that string in the name. It is as though there is something wrong with that particular directory or the index is messed up. I check the file properties of the files that it is not finding and all the properties are correct. Any ideas? Thanks |

| Have you error checked your hard drive recently? A minor hard drive error could account for what's happening.
