The title pretty much says it all, or at least most of it.
Benefits?
Drawbacks?

Thanks in advance,

Windows SP# ????

What SP? There are 4 for Windows 2000, 3 for XP and 1 for Vista.

I think you should do them, you can normally roll back if you get issues.

Have had to roll back 2 machines updating to XP SP3 lately.

I've noticed a lot of software and programs are fro SP2 only. Had would this affect the application?

Thanks in advance,

Service packs should not affect 3rd party software, XP is XP regardless of what SP you are running.

The reason most say for SP2 is that they haven't had the documentation updated to say the support SP3 as well.

I use SP3 and people are rolling it out to big corporate networks now, so I think it is good to install it now.

You should get it one Automatic Updates if they are turned on. When it comes out on there then I think it is good to install.

Basically, install it!
