i discovered that if you have Windows XP you can defrag the boot sector (if it takes an age to start up, for example) by going into DOS by typing cmd in the start menu, hitting run then typing defrag c: -b. This seemed to be quite effective. However, just curious to know if there is also an option to do this with Windows Vista Basic ?

I tried the command prompt in accessories and typed in defrag C:\-b in the DOS window. It said that I need to run the programme with administrative permissions. It then said Use an administrative command prompt then run the programme again. I thought I was logged in as administrator ?

thanks
