| think natural paranoia is understandably creeping in here ! Probably stems back from the days when people had problems after installing WinXP SP2 !! My wife's PC had the several BSOD's from what I remember. |

| I did just look on the MS website for SP1 and couldn't immediately see the statement you were referring to. The standalone installer was very easy to find and download though. I have installed it multiple times from the standalone, and it is fine. I would have thought if there were dependencies which it needed they would be packaged with the installer. But yes, I have had no problems installing it as have other people. Quote:

Thanks for clearing that up for me, cos lo i was tempted to just install first , between ,my mate in my ear and then reading stuff like this, made me think twice about slapping it on and then getting other updates, but if you and others have done so and without no problems then next time i have too , i will do same thing as you guys. Sry about the mixup with MS doc on there site, i ment that it was a doc about MS sp1 i read on another site, but from what i can remember is that they got that info from MS , maybe its in there site somehwere. Anyhows, have a read at this and let me know what ya think, this is more or less what i was reading ,not the same site The prerequisite updates part under (The Windows Update Experience) 1/4 down the page http://www.tweakvista.com/article39220.aspx regards Ozzie My System: Fred

| No problems. That article you referenced is very old and for a release candidate of SP1. It is no longer of any importance because the final version of SP1 fixed those dependency problems. Quote:

| Ahh ok ![]() sry for confusion, still love to know why it takes so long to auto update to sp1 through auto updating. It has some kinda process they go through before they release sp1 for my computer and i only get it after i get single updates which are around 132mb or something Cheers for info serverguy I will now have no 2nd thoughts about installing it 1st regards |

I expect the auto update servers are still pretty busy pushing it out to millions of other computers. It will come eventually.
