Hi
I have to scan and OCR 200 documents a day in Adobe Acrobat Professional 8, right now it takes a very long time, about 40 minutes. I already have a fast computer (Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, 4 GB RAM). Is there a way to change some properties in Vista in such a way that the scan-process goes a little faster? The CPU during the OCR-process (= Optical Character Recognization, documents are scanned as image, Adobe converts this image into text, this takes a long time) is between 25 and 27 procent. Why is the other 75 procent of the CPU asleep, while so many documents have to be OCR-ed? ![]() More info from taskmanager - Fysical memory (MB): 3326 In cache 2322 Available 117 - Kernel memory (MB) Totaal 156 In swapfile 116 Not in swap file 40 Any suggestions how to speed up the OCR-process? |

It isn't down to Vista, or your build. It's down to Adobe and the fact it isn't the fastest at applying the ocr tool.
hence the less than full usage on the cpu and ram.

thanks for your quick replay!
so, there is no way to speed up the process by tweaking vista? (i.e. changing the size of swapfiles) I already removed Windows Defender and the firewall (there is no internet connection). hmmm, if you can think of something, let me know! Otherwise I have to look for other scan-software, and besides the speed, adobe works fine! |
