Hey,

Well, I've noticed in both my computers; The Toshiba Satellite Notebook and the Compaq Presario Desktop that both my computers start-up and run a lot faster when I don't have too many "start-up" programs trying to start-up the minute I get past my WINDOWS LOGIN.

A good method is disabling the programs that you don't need to start-up the minute you turn on, such as torrent clients, virus protection and much more.

Also transformation packs slow down your PC over-all.

If you use torrents,

Viruses, malware, adware, spyware etc can cause this problem.

Have you considered doing a re-format/re-install? A fresh install? Or upgrading you're RAM?

you see these posts too often on here
when you are convinced its not spywear/virus
check your startup programs (to many of them kills performance)
then download some POWER TOYS from Microsoft website (free) TWEAT UI is the one you want
then you can tern off/alter hidden windows setting to speed things up
also a ccleaner can help,de frags & error checking on hard/drives
