Default URGENT Help Please!

HP Pavilion zt3000
Windows XP Pro
768 MB RAM

Hi!

I formatted my computer about 2 weeks ago and while doing so I earsed the whole hard disk (which meant getting rid of the partitions). I set up a drive C and allocated 30 GB of the 100 GB hard disk to install windows but did not know how to allocate the rest of the 70 GB to Drive D.

My computer is up and running for over 2 weeks now but I still haven't figured how to allocate the 70 GB to another drive....

The system has slowed down considerably....

Please help!

Thanks much,
Tina

If I have understood you correctly are you wanting to combine the 70gb with the 30gb? So all in all you have one partition of 100gb?

If you open up windows explorer there should be a d: drive allocated with 70g unless you have the partition set to hidden.

Here is a Microsoft guide to setting up drives and partitions.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/309000

It's pretty simple to fix if you follow it step by step.

If you go to Start / Computer Settings / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Disk Management you'll see a graphic of your whole hard drive.

70GB of that will be unallocated.

Click it, ask for a new partition there, label it, allow it to be Drive D, format it as NTFS. Somewhere in all that you have to "commit" but I don't remember where.

Then you'll have a drive D which is what your first post asked for. Are you really sure you want that?

Why's your machine running more slowly, that's a bit more worrying than not having the hard drive fully set up.
