Default Are User accounts for a home computer neccessary?

Is there any need for user accounts? I know 3 people who live togeather and setting a computer up for them. I was just wondering weather having 3 user accounts will run a computer slower? Will it effect the hard drive space by a lot? I just want to know ...

I just want to know performance wise, what will happen if 3 user accounts are added instead of that one plain user.

Thanks :)

It's good if one or more users have content they don't want any other users to be able to view as you can choose not to share access to files.

It also has a potential to increase security for internet browsing, and that can only be good can't it.
