Hi there!
We have four computers in this house and all of them are connecting to the same Network via wire-less lan without having problems. Well, except of my computer ^^ I can connect to any open Network which is available but as soon as I try to lock in our own Network (which offcourse is much faster) it doesn't connect to the Internet. ![]() This is how far it goes. How I said. Every other network isn't a problem and just connects but not this guy. 3 other Computers don't have that problem so I think it's a thing in my computer. Somebody an idea how to fix that? Thanks folks! |

When the security wep/wpa key is wrong Windows commonly shows as connected to network but no Internet.

Check and double check. Make sure you are sticking to hex or binary on both router and PC.

So the key is a 100% right but it still doesn't work. I'm connecting to a wireless network so actually everything should have been set up fine (how I said, everybody else can use it) Is there something else that might have happened when I turned of the radio?

Is your computer the only one with Vista installed ?

If so ... see if there is a firmware upgrade for your Router, as some older models may not support some of Vista's advanced features and this can cause problems. My System: Home Build

Are you saying that with security turned off your computer works, but with it on it doesn't? Is your computer fully up to date? Have you tried updating your wireless dongle / PCI card drivers?
Can I see an ipconfig /all please, both when they internet is working properly, and when you have the problem. Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt: In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command: IPCONFIG /ALL Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command. Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Paste the results in a message here. If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

It's definitely not the Vista Problem. 3 of the four computers in here are running on Vista.
The joke is that it actually worked. I just used the switch on my thinkpad to turn of the wireless lan radio and as I turned it back on again it suddenly didn't work anymore. Even with the right password. Something in here seems to be pretty crazy. Here is the IPConfig you wanted to have. ![]() Thanks for you help folks. PS @ Serverguy. Your little fly just drew me nuts. Where nice toy. Like that :D |

Oh my god! This whole thing seems to be a big joke.
My friend just came in and asked whether I already fixed the Internet. And I was like? Why do you have trouble with it too? And she said: Yes I have it since you have it. I started the computers of my other friends and all of them didn't had an Internet connection. For some reason I thought that my friends computer worked fine. Well now I just reseted the rooter and everything works again. There is nothing crazy on my computer. Except of that my little Radio switch apparently drives the rooter nuts. Nice little wannabe hacking toy that I have here :D Thank you for your help. The next time I double check those things before I open a new thread. |
