Two days ago i bought a new computer, here are the specs

Dell Inspiron 530
2.4ghz Q6600 Quad Core Viiv Processor
2gb 667mhz RAM
Nvidia Geforce 8600GT 256MB
Windows Vista Home Premium

I also have a speedtouch 330 DSL USB modem which i use to connect to the internet at 2.0mbps with.

Keeping the specs in mind here is the problem:
My internet speed is SLOW, in a nutshell. I have tryed the same internet connection on my old computer with XP home on and the speed is very good (streams videos etc)
My new vista PC crawls along on the web in EX6 and Firefox, ive tryed everything i can think of, i have no Mc Affe or Norton, I turned off automatic updates, and the computer is clean of spyware and viruses etc.

Any solutions or thoughts would be very helpful!

Ouch! Almost as bad as the 2kb/s I was getting sometimes with Plusnet! There `are so many factors that can affect speed. Can you borrow another modem? Another computer? Connect your computer to someone else's broadband? I am getting at narrowing down the problem.

I would lose the USB Modem and try a new one, as Mike said, or a Wireless Router/Modem that plugs into your Ethernet port.
It's quite likely that the Speedtouch isn't supported too well in Vista and/or the voltage required from the USB Port is too much for the new system. USB Modems are bad news at the best of times IMO.
