Default Vista: Transparent start menu?

When I boot my computer, my start menu is transparent which makes it look very nice, then when I load firefox or microsoft messenger or something, my screen flickers and the start menu is no longer transparent and never goes back. is there a setting or somethign to make sure that it stays transparent? or why is the color going solid, what reason

most likely the transparency is a fault. I don't no what would cause this but its probably the case. If you go onto control panel you should be able to change the setting on the colour etc. perhaps transparent too.

it BEING transparent is a fault, or it stopping being transparent is a fault? I know its SUPPOSE to be transparent, my friends computer it does it fine, its suppose to do it automaticly and I dont know why on mine it does for a short while until I load an application.

ah ok.. in that case you just want to hope for the easiest and go into the control panel then i think its called something like taskbar and start menu you should be able to choose the colours and then transparency should be an option within that.

Do you mean that it goes from aero glass style (transparent windows) to vista basic style (blue edged windows with red boxes)?

it doesnt change to XP style, it just changes from transparent to solid colors. the colors are all the same just not transparent any more.

I have the same problem when I open Macromedia Fireworks and MSN Messenger.

I am pretty sure it's down to graphics drivers, but nvidia still haven't fixed it...

Try their website mate, new graphics drivers are released pretty frequently.
