I have a friends computer. It had some malware which we got squared away in the malware section (Thanks again sbj), but it STILL won't update. I get the code 80072efd, which says it's firewalled. i have tried everything I have found from the MS technet site and the links provided with the error message, still no update. I have reset the Windows Firewall ( there is no other). I have checked the settings on my router, I have reset WIndows update. I have sacrificed a pure white unblemished lamb at midnight and had a voodoo witch chant and cast spells on the computer. i still have no update. Can anyone suggest anything? I think something somewhere in the registry got hosed up but there are only about 6 bazillion entries there that i know nothing about to look at lol.

Yeah, it's started and running. LOL I went in and just for grins started EVERY service at one point, then just the essential services, after that boot, I started the services one by one........

The funny thing is, with more googling, it seems to be an error that happens more on computers that run MSM. (Or whatever that stupid microsoft IM program is). I don't recall seeing that on their computer though..........

Have an up date for you...LOL NO pun intended we found that if you stop the service, and replace these two file and re-start the service it may work for you.

Naw, I tried that and also the link in that article here: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=836941 . Neither one worked. Thanks anyways.

BTW How do you make your links into words like "this." I've done it on other sites, but usually it pops up as an option when you post a link. I don't see that here. I've been meaning to ask................

Just copy the URL link into clipboard (right click/copy) highlight the word you want the link attached to, click on the "Insert Link" icon , then paste the link & click OK.
