Default Vista ... Windows cant see my modem

Well i installed Vista on a clean drive and sat around for 2.5 hours on a dial up waiting for all updates.

Then sat around again while installed part of Mcafee updates.

Get up this morning to continue and Windows now cannot see my modem I have checked my hardware for any yellow marks and all is working correctly-------I have tried re-installing my dial up connection and still Windows cannot see or find my modem.

Any ideas please

when you installed the updates did you restart the computer? was it working then?

if so the next thing you installed, mcaffe, may have something to do with it, although i havent known a AV to disable a modem, id try a roll back/restore if possible without having to install all updates again
