Another questions thread..

1) Does it matter which OS it is installed on? ie. Whichever is on C, or the newest edition of Windows.. (Installing XP PRO x86, XP PRO x64, Vista Ult. x64 and Win7 RC1 x64 as we speak)

2) If I have to install it on W7, how will my bootup be affected when it stops next year? Will it just go back to windows bootmgr automatically?

I'm sure I had another question.. but I've forgotten it.

If I remember I'll edit/post, depending when I remember

Thanks for the help again guys.

Default VistaBootPro Questions..

1. Preferably it should just be on the drive with the bootloader that's going to be used (please install Vista/7 first) but those OS choices are somewhat redundant. I don't understand why you would install all four: why not install Win7 and x86 XP and then run the other two in VMs if you need them for compatibility testing or something?
2. The bootloader won't be affected, just the OS. You can always just remove the entry but the bootloader should work fine.

I might just put up without it.. seeing as they're now charging a tenner for it..

As to why I have installed all four:

Windows 7 RC1: Testing/Trying it out
Vista Ultimate: Main OS, and hopefully with a VM museum of all pre-XP OS's.. just for amusement
XP x64: Gaming, don't do any on PC yet, but I'll get FEAR and COD soon hopefully..
XP x86: Very small partition, literally just a fail safe. A nice simple OS, and I can use it for x86 applications that require direct port access.

I hope that makes me look a little less eccentric?

Don't try to do any gaming on x64 XP. x64 XP is total shit in every single way possible. I really recommend you do the 7/x86 XP thing for a reason. If you use Vista as a main OS over 7 you'll just end up wiping it and going to 7 anyway as 7 is better in every way. It's your call but I really can't urge you to do the other enough.

Default VistaBootPro Questions..

It's my primary PC though, so I'm reluctant to use a Beta or RC as my main OS on my main PC..

Knowing my luck, although I've found it fairly stable so far, as soon as I made it my main, something disastrous would happen.

I really just need to use something good and stable to be honest, as I have a lot of coursework to do at the moment.

I've already had to restart my media because a CD corrupted which had it on when I changed PC (stupidly I wiped the old PC before making sure I had my coursework on the new one) and then my backup copies on the school server went too, not too sure what happened but loads of people lost all there documents that were on the school server.. (well, the pupils one anyway.. funnily enough the teachers was fine..)

Thanks for the advice though
