when i log onto my laptop, with xp proffesional. i find that sometimes my power icons dont come up along with things like norton ghost, SIS utilty tray, and sound effects.
can anybody help me to find out why this happens, it annoys me greatly and its annoying not knowing how much battery you have left. Xp pro 2.00Ghz Celeron 512mb RAM |

Are you holding Shift down? That can bypass the startup programs.

Also are they being hidden, click the little arrow to reveal all the icons.

no im not holding anything, its just sometimes not all the time, i know they have started up they just dont appear in the tray?
i ound a tool that i was using on another computer to fix omething ele i jut dont know what it was! |

You should try some comp cleaners like ccleaner or tune up 08

It could be spyware. If you haven't fixed it:
Go to the Virus, Spyware & Security Forum Do everything in the first post in this post. Then start a new thread in that forum and post the Hijack This log you created. Someone will look over it and suggest a course of action.

Is this the same computer as this one?
EDIT: Nope different specs. If you use it for the same things as the other one you need to do as Serverguy suggested and go post a Hijackthis log. Either Serverguy or I will then have a look at it. |

no its not the same computer, i knew should of posted specs for a reason, no its not spyware, i read its something to do with xp prof and something to do with logging on, cant remember but i read it on this website, will try the cleaning things, thanks for the other item though EvilFantasy

have you got the laptop plugged in when it doesn't come up? try the following steps:
1. go to start > control pannel 2. ensuring the control pannel is in classic view (link on the left pannel) double click "power options" 3. click the advanced tab 4. ensure the "always show icon on the taskbar" is ticked If it isn't ticked, that could be your problem. If it is ticked, I don't know what the problem is. My System: First OC
