Will My Harddrive Boot to Windows in a Different Pc ?

i want to put my harddrive with vista on..into another computer..would i have to re install vista? of would it boot up with no problems.. so basically all am doing is changing the botherboard/cpu/ in another words..i will still be using the same graphics card. the harddrive that has vista on has no motherboard drivers on..only graphics card & audio drivers withc i will also be still using.. never done this before..can it be done?
am doing this because the other motherboard has a 2.60ghz intel and at the minute am using amd 2ghz

Yup should do, i have about 8 old hd's that i used to swap around on my old desktop because i was to cheap to buy one big enough for everything i had lol.

if its a big hardware change, windows often needs to be reactivated. or at least, XP does, not sure about vista, imagine its the same though.

I heard that can be overruled by doing it gradually.
ie. a boot up imbetween each change.

ill have to try that next time. i changed a motherboard a while ago, and windows asked to be reactivated within 3 days, its not exactly a problem really, but could get annoying.

Yeah, could be an issue with, as in petes case if you're changing from Intel to AMD or vice versa. As this obviously means you have to change mobo and CPU at the same time. Depends how bigger hardware change makes windows wet its panties I spose.

i think when i changed that mobo it was from intel to AMD, but cant remeber now.

... ill do the change if it boots i dont mind re activating it..if nowt happens ill just re-install windows

yeah windows will ask to reactivate if and only if its a different motherboard BRAND. That should work other wise.
