Windows 2000 won't boot! Please help!?

Default Windows 2000 won't boot! Please help!?
My computer will boot up to the 'gateway' sign it loads n then a blank screen with a dash in the corner flashes...and that's all it does! I don't know what to do! It just happened one day! I hadn't even installed any new hardware or software! I have tried rebooting it in safe mode by pressing F8 but I couldn't actually get the menu to come up in the first place! If you can help I would be very grateful!

Hi,You have tried F8 with no luck so see if rebooting and pressing F5 will work, this should allow you to get to the boot menu via the command prompt.Hope this helpsStarman

I would strongly suggest you get your computer repaired a reputable repairer will do their best to get your computer running again at worst it'll mean having a new hard drive fitted

Aisling, did you try continually pressing F8 on a new start?
Can you access the bios by pressing F2 or Del at all.

I think they don't even get past the bios screen.

We need more info of exactly what it does or doesn't do to help I'm afraid.
