It should be available tonight (about 8PM for us in the UK).

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/

Should be released this afternoon Pacific Time. (Its about 11AM PST now).

The download page is already out, but the servers are completely shot (maybe deliberately until the download time..):
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/e.../dd353205.aspx

Its been available to Technet Plus subscribers and MSDN etc since yesterday and on Pirate sources for a week or so.

Hopefully this will not be a repeat of Vista :)

Does this version still corrupt XP indexes?

Is that the one that caused parts of certain songs to go missing in Windows Media Player when you edited tags in WMP?

If so, yes it was. Basically thanks to it being leaked on torrent sites before it was officially launched. MS issued one of those speed patch things (can't remember their name).

But it looks like the severs died when they went live because there is just a 404 there now.

answer to the post before the above one. They are called hot fixes i think. anyway there are a few reviews out on this and it looks pretty good. Hopefully they dont make the prices as inflated as vista's were. 400 dollars for ultimate?!?!

Nah, there was some sort of weird XP bug where if you changed permissions on an XP file it corrupted the file or something. I assume that's been fixed..

Thanks for your interest in the Windows 7 Beta. The volume has been phenomenal—we're in the process of adding more servers to handle the demand. We're sorry for the delay and we'll re-post the Beta as soon as we can ensure a quality download experience.
Looks like somethings happening.
