Thats going to be difficult unless you get in on the beta. I think there is to be a public beta (open to anyone) sometime next year though.

My mate has signed up for the beta - I couldn't find the correct link; must be shut.

Apparently each person has a uniqe activation code which can only be used once. Similar to having a product key on windows XP. but with a difference.

Your mate is not telling you the truth then! There is no way to sign up for a beta, at the moment it is strictly invite only to top M$ partners.

It looks exactly like Vista (just like Vista looked like XP in alpha), reports are that it runs quite a bit faster but is pretty similar at this point. There's also a new taskbar but it's not that special.

Windows Vista was a stunt. The only reason they made it was to get money to fund windows 7. they knew vista was guna be a flop and they did it on perpus. thats why vista sux. the never planed to make it better, becasue when 7 comes out they are guna scrap vista like it was never there. it was all just for money.

That is complete nonsense.

Like they don't have enough money??

Windows 7 is built up from Vista. And it was certainly not meant to be a flop, and considering how many people are using it or changing to it, and the fact you can no longer buy XP, it is here to stay.

Windows 7, as Carbon said, is not all that different to it. Vista was a big difference to XP.

As I said first, Microsoft are amongst the richest businesses in the world. They did not 'need' the money - think about how much Bill Gates donates each year....

And if it such a pile of **** why are you dual booting it having spent so many $$$ on buying it?

"We should spend years developing a multi-purpose operating system but not make it any good on purpose! Why, last year I went to a meeting with a client and dumped a bowl full of ice cream on his head and he gave me ten million dollars advance and a license agreement to deploy it on all their servers!"
