Haven trying all the windows versions the most recent, 2000, xp, vista now this beta RLC of windows 7 I really think that vista wins hands down at the this moment they have only changed a few things with windows 7 to make it look different and they are NOT making new kernels for windows 7 its just how much stuff Source code and unncessory code and computer ussuage of programs so it cuts down on start up time shut down time and gives faster response all of this said, vista you can do all of this yourself to the system if you have a slight clue about computers. so that said I will not be buying windows 7 unless its free :P

From October, all New PCs & Laptops will come with Windows 7, so it's always best to stay current, when buying new, but I must admit I see very little reason to upgrade.
W7 is definitely a bit faster & less intrusive and probably a bit more futureproof, but other than that, no really good reason to splash out a few hundred $£, as it cant really do much more than Vista, or XP for that matter, for the average user.

Seems to be very stable and has a good driver database ..... seems to pick up most hardware.
Once I resized the Taskbar and added back quicklaunch, it seems to look and feel a bit better.
IE8 still seems a bit slow though.

Yep .... I use FF too
...... also it seems as though Windows 7 in Europe, will not include IE8, because of European competition rules .... see story here

If you are lucky enough you will be able to get W7 as a free upgrade

Microsoft will offer a program where those who purchase a new PC with Vista within a certain date range will be eligible for a free upgrade to Windows 7.
Rest here

I wonder how M$ will allow EU folk to download a browser, if IE8 isn't included.

Unless they provide a seperate Disk, with several browsers to choose from, how will folk access the net, to aquire it ?

I think it's bonkers. I mean, for example, what happens with petrol stations? Do you get a choice there, no, you get the choice of the stations brand only. Same with Tesco, do they have to not sell their own food and stock ADSA's. Lets attack Apple for their phone and mp3 monopoly yeah? M$ might bow to bizarre legal pressure to drop their browser from being installed as default but I can't see them including other brands. Good question though, i imagine it will come as a stand alone package, the issue here is it is forced on the end user, nothing else as far as i can make out.
