Hi, I have a serious problem with my laptop that I hope you guys may be able to help me with. I can not get windows to start, I just get the windows boot manager screen.
I have tried system repair from the disc but after it repaired it just started up straight to boot manager screen. I did a full system check through the diagnostics (it brought up error codes 0148 and 2000-0148 ?)
I can't even restore factory settings as that option is not on the list of system recovery options and last known good configuration does'nt work.
I would be really greatful for any help. Many thanks in advance

Boot the Vista DVD. Choose Country. Click Next. Choose keyboard. Click Next.
Don't choose Install Now but System Recovery Options

You should now have an option to open the Command Prompt.

Once in Command Prompt, type in bootrec /fixboot

Then type exit and chose to restart the computer or whatever option it gives you to exit the installer.

If that doesn't fix the problem, the go back to the Command Prompt window, but this time type in bootrec /fixmbr

Exit, restart and try again.
