Okay, on one of my systems is a HP-Compaq Buisness Desktop Microtower, with a Pentium 4 HT processor running at 2.8GHz. i have windows XP pro installed as tht wht it came with installed!

As I shut down, you get the screen saying loging off and then windows is shutting down. BUT THEN.....it shows the splash screen of the computer make (the one which shows just after you've had the windows logo and the blue screen showing users).

It hovers at this point for about 5-8 seconds and then you here the HDD power down and it shows a blue screen saying (something similar to this)

Windows Error {fatal system error}
Error code: c000021a '0x00000000' (0x00000000,0x00000000)
Windows cant log in system is shutting down.

Is this my computer trying to dual boot or something?

Thx for any help!

Not good. Not good at all.

Click here to be referred to a sticky on the "Blue Screen of Death"

- It's nicely named, so you know that everything is just hunky-dory...

just so you know it actually says! This is in full now!

STOP: c000021a {fatal error}
Windows could not log on to system because of 0x00000000 (0x00000000,0x00000000)
Windows has shut down

And thts it no driver errors, just tht!
Think i have windows installed on a external HDD, would tht effect it?

An OS on an EHHD is not a good idea.

Sure it wasnt

STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}

The windows Logon Process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000142 (0x00000000 0x00000000). The system has been shut down.

?? I believe that's fairly common, and is a result of failing logon dll's

However if what you posted is one hundred percent then it occurs when Windows switches into kernel mode and a user-mode subsystem, such as Winlogon or the Client Server Runtime Subsyste (CSRSS), is compromised. Security can no longer be guaranteed. Because Win XP can't run without Winlogon or CSRSS, this is one of the few situations where the failure of a user-mode service can cause the system to stop responding. This Stop message also can occur as a result of malware infestation or when the computer is restarted after a system administrator has modified permissions so that the SYSTEM account no longer has adequate permissions to access system files and folders.

According to my research, you're screwed :S, but have a read of the sticky and maybe PM SocialWarfare to have a butchers at this thread, you never know.
