Default Windows Explorer shutting down

Hi all, i hope somebody can help me. I hope nobody else has posted this previously, i did look but couldn't see a similar thread.
Everytime i go to open the search window, it shuts down straight away. Sometimes the window will stay up but you can't press any buttons on it, other times it just stops Windows Explorer from responding and shuts down.
If there are no other Windows Explorer files it just shuts itself down, but if there is a window, e.g. My computer, then a window comes up saying DrWatson Postmortem Debugger has stopped responding and then shuts everything down and slows my PC right down.

I have run Spyware Doctor, AVG and Registry Mechanic, as well as perfomed a disc cleanup and defrag. I'm running out of other ideas! I know i don't use it very much but it may be important at some point.

Thanks for your time,

Sarah

Default Windows Explorer shutting down

Lets take a closer look.

Download HijackThis Here
Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\HijackThis.
Some new versions save to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis
Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
DO NOT PUT HijackThis.exe ON THE DESKTOP OR IN A TEMP FOLDER.
This is important because it will create backups and they are easily lost if not installed correctly.

*Important*
Rename the Hijackthis.exe file to Analyze.exe. This is important because some new forms of malware can hide from HijackThis.exe. Right click the HijackThis.exe file in C:\Program Files\HijackThis and choose rename. Type in Analyze.exe and press the enter key.
Right click the Analyze.exe file and send to desktop to create a shortcut.

Next click on the "Do a system scan and save a log file button". It will scan and then a log will open in notepad.
Right click the notepad and click "select all" Right click again and select "copy"
Paste the log in your next reply.

DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

That is not a complete log.

They should start with Logfile of HijackThis.
And end with 023 ????

Default Windows Explorer shutting down

You show no malware but there are a few entries that can be cleaned up.

Open HijackThis and select "Do a system scan only"
Place a check mark next to these entries.
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)
(Description: A hidden or missing adware entry.)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Alcmtr] ALCMTR.EXE
(Description: Realtek AC97 Audio - Event Monitor. "Sypware" file used surreptitiously monitor one's actions. It is not a sinister one, like remote control programs, but it is being used by Realtek to gather data about customers )
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] \"C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_02\bin\jusched.exe\"
(Description: Sun Java update scheduler. Checks for updates. Not necessary. Removing this entry will free up a small amount of system resources.)
*Important*
Close all Browser windows

Then click "Fix checked"

Now restart the computer.

At least malware can be ruled out.
