I thought that I would post this here as I dont think its likely to be a virus/malware and it's linked to the OS (XP SP2)

I get the windows update icon in my system tray telling me that I have an update and it's ready to be installed, so I click install.

Every time I turn on/restart my computer I still get this telling me to update it. And on the ''shut down'' option it asks me if I want to install updates again. I have also tried doing it through the microsoft website but that doesn't work either.

For some reason it doesn't seem to want to fully install it.

Ideas?

Clicking Custom Install would tell us which security fix it is.

For the time being, clicking "no thanks" and "don't remind me" will hide it. We can bring it and deal with it back when we've found the answer.

I had this bugger for a while before enough people complained about it. Really annoyed me

This is the fix:

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:

1.Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then press ENTER.

2.At the command prompt, type ren %windir%\System32\msxml4.dll msxml4.old, and then press ENTER.

Note After you press ENTER, you may receive the following error message. Cannot find the file specified.
Ignore this message, and go to step 3.

3.At the command prompt, type exit, and then press ENTER.

4.Visit the following Microsoft Web site: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...8-185639ba2807

5.Download and then install security update 936181.
