Hello, hope I have the right thread for this. TOday my computer was unplugged while in standby. When I rebooted it showed me that Windows could not start because the file \windows\system32\config\system was missing or corrupt. So it says I can attempt to repair the problem by using the original Setup CD Rom and using r to start a repair. However my computer is a Dell Inspiron 1300 and I have no recovery disk, only the recovery that is built into the computer (by holding ctrl f11). Is there a fix for this?I dont really want to reinstall my operating system. can I use an xp disk to repair the problem?
Thanks Jason |

This usually means the registry has become corrupted.
Try booting into Safe Mode (by tapping F8 at boot), then choose the 'Last known good configuration’ option. My System: Home Build
