Understood, but your ISP is BT and your daughter's ISP is AOL.
Her IP Address and log in details will be different to yours, so if you try to configure it at your house, you will hit problems.

You really need to set things up at her place. What is her existing setup ? has she got AOL Broadband or 56k Dial Up ?. Has she got a Wirelees Modem/Router ?

OK, well all you need to do is one of the following :

1. Install a Wireless Network (NIC) Card into yoour grandaughter's PC ... something like this one

or

2. Use a USB Wireless Adaptor like this one

As this PC is old and only has USB 1 Ports , I would suggest Option 1 .... fitting the card will take 10 mins and only requires a screwdriver .... it just slots into a spare PCI Slot.

Whichever you choose, once fitted .... you install the drivers and when at your daughter's house, it will find the Wireless Network and ask for the encryption key (assuming wireless security is enabled) .... that's it ..... your grandaughter's PC does not require a Modem as the Wireless card/adaptor connects to the modem in your daughter's Wireless Modem/Router.

I should have mentioned also, that your grandaughter's PC will not require AOL Software to be installed, this is likely to confuse and conflict with the wireless setup.

The main things we are interested in is the Processor (CPU) and RAM

But if you are happy with the PC's performance and it's not going to be used for any demanding tasks, dont worry about it.

Yep ...... as I suspected, the CPU and RAM are very small.
How does it run ? are you waiting ages for the system to boot up and for things to open ?

It definitely needs more RAM for XP to run efficiently, but only you know how fast or slow it is and whether it's acceptable.
