I seem to be having a problem with XP and I really don't know what it is.
One afternoon when I turned my PC on, MSN wouldnt work. I got a error message saying the service is unavilable, please try again later. So I did and same message..... I kinda ignored this and went to do some other tasks. Went to go update windows...Page cannot be displayed...EHHH??!!?!?!?! This was weird because I was listening to internet radio and on youtube. So I thought I've got a virus and couldnt be arsed to root around for it etc so I formatted. Went to activate windows, I am using a MSDN key from college so its all legit but it wouldnt activate. I had to do it over the phone. Installed SP2 and other programs and went to update but the windowsupdate wouldn't load, hotmail.com wouldnt load, msn doesnt work. Im on my fresh system now and i cant even get on windows live messenger site to download it. Its like I'm banned. Ive checked my hosts files, ran HJT (here is log but looks fine), restored factory settings on router. Dunno what else it can be, I'm so baffled. Cheers, Brad |

Yes. I am on the PC right now. My friend suggested to try WGA to see if that worked. I am going to try and wipe my hard drive with 0's and see if that works. I am thinking it could be a rootkit in my router or deep in my harddrive because my other computer connected wirelesly cannot use live messenger too or load any MS sites.
I even had to register here on my gmail instead of my defualt email which is with hotmail because hotmail will not load. |

Check this first .... in IE go to the Tools menu, click Internet Options and.on the Advanced tab, under Security, make sure that the following check boxes are selected:
•Use SSL 2.0 •Use SSL 3.0 •Use TLS 1.0 |
