My mother is running Windows Vista on her laptop, and each time she installs the updates shown on the picture below, her laptop attempts to reboot but then something goes wrong when it tries to boot up again. It gives you the menu where you have to choose if you want to boot into Safe Mode, Safe Mode + command prompt and all that, after that it's just a vicious circle (keeps on doing the same thing over and over).

The fix to this is restoring to a previous state using the OS disk. Here is the log it creates:
Code:
Root cause found:
------------------
A patch is preventing the system from starting.

Repair action: system restore
Result: completed successfully. Error code = 0x0
Time taken = 360206ms
And the picture with the updates it wants to install:

Does anyone know which update is the one that keeps on crashing the OS?

Thanks in advance.

Try installing one update at a time and see if that helps.

Yeah, I was going to do that but my mom didn't bring her OS disk with her so when I hit the update that messes things up I won't be able to do anything for a week or two (on vacation. -.-')

Well.. I guess those updates'll have to wait then and I'll do as you said, one by one.

You can also check here for a solution. Help with Windows Updates

If needed just post back as I am sure we can try other things.

Are you guys definitely running legit copies of Vista ? ... as M$ have introduced updates to kill off the old timestopper cracks and prevent updates being downloaded, where these are detected ..... I noticed KB929735 Windows Service : vt32time (clock windows service) is in tmockingbird's list, but not selected ..... this may be your answer
