Isn't there also a built in way to bypass the password. I know there is for XP as I have had to use it before however not sure about Vista

the only built in thing for vista is an option to make a cd in case of an event you forget your password..
there is other ways to recover a password but Dave Hybrid recommended is one of the easy options
burn it with magic iso ( magic iso is free to download a google search will bring it up)
burn at a low speed like 10x

This has worked on OS's up to Vista ..... it may work in Vista too, but I cant say I have tried it yet .... might be worth a try ... nothing to lose :

1. Reboot Windows in Safe Mode.
2. Click Start
3. In the Start Search box, type the following command and then click OK: control userpasswords2
4. Click the user account that you forgot the password for, and then click Reset Password.
5. Type a new password in both the New password and the Confirm new password boxes, and then click OK.

I'm not sure if Vista has a safe mode like that? I have never tried it but I've never seen that option...Maybe my vista is really messed.
