when you say you tried ophcrack and it didn't work .... what did you do with the file ? how did you burn it ? .... you realise it's an iso to create a bootable CD yeah ?

I have just reburnt the cd, do I just put the CD in and restart the laptop?

yep .... if it doesn't boot, you may need to go into bios and change your boot drive sequence, to make the CD Drive your 1st boot device

how is that done on a Viao? F2??
another forum had said about pressing F11 which will reinstall Vista but will this loose everything on the hard drive?? |

yeah press F2 at start up when you see the Sony logo .... tap it a few times
