| unless you have more memory and a bigger hard drive then the xp operating system had, you will have major problems up grading to vista. Vista needs more memory and hard drive to perform correctly. and vista has different drivers then xp.. if you had the full installation of vista, the os system and the drivers. all you would need to do then is increase your memory and your hard drive capacity.. you need to check all the specs for vista vs. xp.. and go from there.. other wise you have changed your whole operating system and it will not work with the minimum xp hard drive and memory.. go to google.com and do a search on requirements for upgradiing to vista from xp.. you should be able to find any answers you need to know about it there.( increase your memorym, hard drive, video cards, drivers for vista,) also some programs may need to be uninstalled first before upgradiing to vista from xp or they will not work at all. you have to know what ones to uninstall to do that correctly) contact your computer manufacturer for help if you have anymore problems with your upgrade.. ) good luck! |

| Wow, you've got a machine dual-booting Vista and XP? Crazy. Well... let's see. I'm an MCSA so for network troubleshooting, I typically go (in XP) to Control Panel and click Network Connections, click your right-click your connection and click Repair. If that doesn't work, go to a command prompt (Start button -> Run -> type in cmd and hit ok). In the command prompt type ipconfig /all to give you all possible ipconfig tools. Use "ipconfig /release" and then "ipconfig /renew". Keep command prompt up and try again. If that doesn't help, try pinging a site such as google. Type in ping www.google.com in the command prompt. If that doesn't work, I couldn't tell without being there. I haven't used Vista so I don't know what would allow the net to work through that but not XP. Just a few things to try though. Hope it works! |
