Still the same problem. Actually I think the Microsoft thing has become morefrequent???

I've noticed a lot of updates have failed through 'Windows Update', I've added a screen shot of the ones that have failed to install...one of them is "Office 2003 Service Pack 3 (SP3)" which I just tried installing

You may want to print this out for reference or copy it into a Notepad file then save it to your Desktop. Internet Explorer needs to be closed.

1. Close all instances of Internet Explorer.

2. Click Start > Run then type REGSVR32 ATL.DLL in the open box and click OK

Note: There is a space between REGSVR32 and ATL.DLL

3. Do the same with each of the below. (one at a time)
  • REGSVR32 MSXML3.DLL
  • REGSVR32 WUAPI.DLL
  • REGSVR32 WUAUENG.DLL
  • REGSVR32 WUAUENG1.DLL
  • REGSVR32 WUPS2.DLL
  • REGSVR32 WUCLTUI.DLL
  • REGSVR32 WUPS.DLL
  • REGSVR32 WUWEB.DLL
  • REGSVR32 QMGR.DLL
  • REGSVR32 QMGRPRXY.DLL
  • REGSVR32 JSCRIPT.DLL

Restart the computer when complete.

Try running the updates again.

I've copied the last few posts into the Windows Operating Systems forum so others can reply. I'm not a Vista user so I'm limited on dealing with Vista issues.

The below is also a post from the other thread

"Also I just noticed that in the Windows Updater, even though some installations failed, their were others with the same name that were successfully installed. I've added screen shots to show you what I mean...I'm not sure if that means that all installations are up to date though, maybe it requires more than one installation of the files with the same name, no idea...just letting you know"

Sorry, you will find the attachments here

Maybe Windows Vista is up to date?
