Start -> Shut Down -> Restart -> {booting} + F8++ -> SAFE MODE -> user: Administrator -> pass: -> ENTER = Epic Fail This is the most common method of retrieving access to admin account, but in fact, yes, it did prompt me for password, and no, blank password failed to work. Start -> Run... -> cmd -> net user administrators /add accountname = Epic Fail This is a way to be able to bypass at times. Unfortunately, this does not work for me I don't have windows xp cd anymore, so I can't do the repair trick. I am at a stand-still. I've grown frustrated with this. I cannot seem to get into the admin account or simply create a new one. I only have access to this very limited user account. Any suggestions, other than downloading windows and cracking it? I'm trying to be as legit as possible. But I have a headache and can't think anymore.

This has nothing to do with a virus or malware. I "simply" need to find out how to get into local admin account. x.x

I've heard that about a thousand times ![]() It will show me if there are restrictions on the account. Either that or get the administrator to tell you the password.

I know there are restrictions for the account. And I am the administrator. These computers were purchased from a company going out of business and the original admin account passwords were never released, so everyone since then has been using the regular limited account, but now, we are switching to wireless lan, and it will not let me install software, which brought this whole thing to my attention. There is no point of contact.

The further explanation is helpful, we usually don't help in bypassing the admin password but I do believe you. Short of reinstalling the OS you have very few options. A) Pay for a professional to reset it or use expensive software to recover it. B) Use this. It isn't an easy process but is supposed to have a 100% success rate.

lol. I downloaded that thing like 20 mins ago, and then realized that I do not have any blank cds with me. So yeah, thanks though. What I may just end up doing is just getting a fresh win xp and overwriting the the partition completely. It will save time and headache, and then I'll get a cd in the future and have that prog stored on there for future use, if needed.

Did the PC come with install disks, or do you have the OS license key?

Also just to be thorough. On the welcome (sign in) screen have you tried holding ctrl+alt (both at once) then press Delete twice. This brings up log in options. Try Administrator for the user with no password entered. If that doesn't work then try it again with administrator as the user and password.

Yes I tried that, and the only difference between pressing and not pressing 2(ctrl alt del) is the gui. Other than that, there is no change in the sam
