Ok ive a few Q's i originally had Xp home OEM on my system but i needed to reinstall but the disc was damaged so it messed up my computer. So im going to install Windows XP Home SP2 ( retail) problem is, doesnt OEM mean that it has certain drivers installed for your computer. Once ive installed Retail version does that mean i have to go and download all the drivers for all things on my PC?? i dont have the internet at home so can i have a list of certain drivers i need like Cd rom Dvdrw graphics card etc

Help im not good at this stuff!!

Thx

PS: will the backup cd ( if i get it to work ) contain drivers on it i can use ?? and where are they located ??

Xp will automatically update your drivers for CD/DVD RW and the likes, you will be able to find the drivers that you require easy enough
If you have trouble in finding any drivers just start a thread specifying your problem and I will be happy to help you

OEM means Original Equipment Manufacture. Basically it has less documentation (if any) and you are more limited as to what you are allowed to do.

The Cd will contain all the drivers you need, except ones which when you installed, you had to insert the products CD.

Ok im up and running got Xp home sp2 installed, but theres no sound i tried to play a game and it said DirectSound Error: No Driver, how do i fix this ive no access to internet but i am able to download now and again from a diff pc. I think i had realtek im not sure.... Also i dont know if i need any other drivers, i put on the latest nvidia drivers for my geforce and it seemed to allow me to change the screen resoultion and colour so im guessing that worked?

Do i need other drivers besides sound drivers after using a retail XP?

Thanks much appreciated!
