Default Windows XP installation problem (Error 1711)

Hi. I have recently had many problems installing anything on my computer. I have tried installing games, software and more recently, software for a Zune and without this software installed, the product is useless and £100 is wasted.

I know the problem, it is "Error 1711" saying i do not have enough disk space when i have more than enough space.

I am a complete computer n00b so I have no idea how to solve this problem and from looking at how to solve the problem from searches on google, I am even more confused. I have tried updating my Windows Installer but this has not solved the problem.

Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Many thanks, Ben.

I can help, Do this:
Insert your windows CD
Go into BIOS and tell it to boot from CD blah blah blah
Do a long format of the disk {will take about 20 mins}
Install windows properly then come back and tell me if that didn't work!
