I am not sure there is anything that can be done, but I figure it can't hurt to ask. I am trying to help my grandma fix her computer. She recently left her job where they required her to purchase a company laptop (Toshiba Portege M205-S810) which was set up on their network and she was given a limited account. Now that she is no longer with the company she still has the computer but still has restricted privileges and can't install programs and everything. Is there a way to become the administrator and eliminate the other account? I wouldn't mind resetting the whole thing but there is no cd drive or floppy drive (it has a port for a docking station, but I dont have one). I tried contacting the IT at her old company but surprisingly they couldnt care less and wouldnt give me the time of day. The computer has Windows XP professional operating system, any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks so much for any help.

Boot in safe mode (Press F8 on power on repeatedly), login as Admin and do what you want.

Ok, there should be a way to do this, however it's possible it's disabled, but it's worth a try.

First, boot the computer up into safe mode, then at the login screen, type the user name as "administrator" and leave the password field black, then click ok. If not disabled, this should allow complete administrative privileges to you. At which point, you can go to the control pannel and click user accounts, and change the user groups/delete accounts as you wish.

EDIT: You beat me to it Dave
