| http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/p...g/sysreqs.mspx It should run, but from experience it will be slow. Better off with Windows 2000 on old machines.

| I've added another 256 ram stick, which wasn't expensive, to give me half a gig of ram. Although it's never going to be as quick as a decent modern desktop, it runs XP Pro quite happily, at a usable speed. Whether what I call 'usable speed' will be usable speed to your uncle, or not, is another question only he can answer. You should be able to get a pretty quick laptop, second hand, for £300 ish off the net. Wait till after X-mas and I expect you would get an even better one. People will have had new ones for X-mas, so there will probably be a flood of older ones in the New Year. |
