Default XP memory management locked at default

I have over 2Gb RAM in my laptop now and hardly ever utilize all of it. However, Windoze insists on giving me oodles of slow cache. I wanted to experiment with removing the page file or minimizing it. I have done this before, but not recently!

OK, Control Panel, System, Advanced, Performance Settings, Advanced, Change.

Set the page file to 2Mb (minimum), 2Mb (maximum), go out, restart, and NOTHING! Same old settings, no change!!!

I even tried changing the registry settings, but again nothing.

Clearly a bug, but anyone know a workaround?

do a bench mark test of your whole computer to see what exactly is slow. maybe its something besides your catchy. or is it just that you want to use your RAM and just forget the page file and let the RAM take over for that?
