Silly question maybe Mike, but are you hitting the "Set" button, before "OK" ?

Yes

Whatever I set it to it returns back to an amount exactly the size of my RAM, 2294Mb.

If the pagefile has become fragmented, this may prevent resizing,
If you think this could be the case, try PageDefrag. This will defrag the pagefile, where normal defrag programs cant.

Windows won't use the page file unless necessary, so there's really no point.

Well, I would have thought so, yet if I look in Task Manager I see that it is using it even though there is no point!

Plus, it is also using 2.25Gb of my precious HDD space!!!
