Default XP Running Slowly, Not Malware...

Hi all,

I recently put a new hard drive into my XP machine and did a fresh install of XP and everything.
Now since then, it's been very slow - slower than it was before, and has high CPU usage.

Specs:
Intel Pentium 4 2.0GHz
768MB SDRAM
WD 250GB IDE

This isn't a driver issue, I've made sure they're all up to date.

Ideas please!

IDE ATA and ATAPI disks use PIO mode after multiple time-out or CRC errors occur

Jumpers are set correctly on the driver - they're at Master as it's the only drive connected.

PIO mode isn't the issue as its XP SP3 so that's been fixed anyway.
