Default Advent 7078 Running Xp - Boot Sector Virus Problem

I have a Advent 7078 laptop. I am having Issue's with this .... I am sure it has a virus on it and I can get any joy with it. When I turn it on it comes up with centrino screen then a black screen comes up and says "boot sector write!!!" and below "VIRUS: continue (Y/N) "

Now if I press yes the laptop goes very slow but goes to the desktop but shows no icons and no start button and basically freeze's.

If i press no it comes up with MBR error and telling me to reboot and select proper boot device..

Is this a simple problem I can solve?? I have worked on nintendo ds and xbox 360's before but never laptops ... always willing to try tho

All help will be greatly appreiated

Can you get to the desktop and have functions in Safe Mode?

Do you have a flash drive to transfer tools with if needed?

Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from and save it to your Desktop.
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run.
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it has finished, two logs will open.
  • log.txt <will be maximized and info.txt <will be minimized
  • Please post the contents of both logs in the next reply.

It might not be a virus. Do you have you install CD?

I have looked for this earlier today but as per normal when you want these things you can never find them. I am sure I wouldnt have thrown these away just a case in finding them.

I have seen you can buy them online which are £35.00 ...... If I cant find them tommorow you think buying some would be wothwhile??

I'm pretty sure you will need one. Can you borrow one from a friend? It will work as long as it's the exact same version as you have.
