| You might consider updating to at least IE7. IE6 is insecure. Quote:

Installed IE8. Secunia Applet loaded fine. Running scan now. Probably take a week to update everything it is finding.

Back again tonight. I'm still working on Secunia recommended installations. Anything else I should do?

That should be it as long as the computer is running good.

I've just completed the Secunia recommended updates and starting to work on the Windows Updates. With Secunia, I got the message "Detection completed with 1 error." But when I click on the error message, I just get a pop-up with "An error occurred while searching for missing Windows updates." with an OK button. Nothing after I click OK. Other than that, I finally reduced the list of outdated items to nothing. Any idea what Secunia was trying to tell me with that "not terribly informative" error message?

Another strange thing that occurred was after I installed the later IE before, I started getting "black" backgrounds on the menu bars. I'm assuming (for now) that this might be corrected when I finish the updates or perhaps its a basic incompatibillity between this system and my actual monitor. I'm don't have the monitor that comes with the system. Just the CPU. I was going to explore this later, but thought I'd run it by you in case you had any immediate ideas. I've done a screen capture of the IE window so you can see what it looks like and it should be attached.

You need to clear your cache. How do I clear my web browser's cache and cookies?
