Default Anything Funky Here?

I noticed a couple of things that didn't look right here. Do I have a problem?

You can have HJT fix these.

O20 - AppInit_DLLs:

Be sure to right click HJT and use Run as Administrator.

Thanks evil.

Why are those things there though? I do NOT use IE. It is used by windows however when I update. Also after I fixed the two items in the SAS file, Winpatrol asked me twice about letting a program start. The first time I said no, but the second time I fumble fingered and hit yes after googling it. I don't remember what it was though. appinit.exe looks kind of familiar though..........

Does this still happen after fixing the O20 - AppInit_DLLs: entry?

No, it wouldn't though would it after I gave Winpatrol permission to let it through? i ran SAS again though and nothing was there this time. Thanks again.

Winpatrol doesn't know the difference in "good" and "bad" so you have to determine the change yourself and give or deny permission.

What I usually do with Winpatrol is allow everything. If it's something I actually don't want like a new startup then I will go and manually fix it.

I know, (I think lol) I mistakenly hit yes instead of no on that one thing the second time it popped up. As such, once Winpatrol was given permission to let it through, it wouldn't ask again would it?

No once you let it through it will go silent.

When running antivirus/antimalware scans, HJT scans/fixes it is usually a good idea to just turn off Winpatrol. That way when you do fix something Winpatrol won't try to stop it or add confusion to the process.

Yeah I know. It was on the reboot after I ran SAS...... That's how it got through, I was in the process of turning everything off to run the HJT and didn't pay proper attention .........

I think whatever it was though was snuffed out by by removing app init.

Wonder how that got there though............

It was empty so might have been a leftover from something.
