Just noticed this with the new update.

Quote:
March 29, 2008 avast! now contains a built-in anti-rootkit protection, built-in anti-spyware protection and new self-defense function to prevent active malware from terminating avast! processes as well as corrupting avast! files and registry items

Whats your opinion on how this compares to AVG EF?

I have never really played with it much... Has the free version got most of the features of the full version?

That reminds me, I need to go pay Budfred a visit lol. I have been putting it off

I rate this more than AVG, and with this update it looks even better.

I agree with Dave. This update put Avast over the top as a free scanner. Home/Pro Comprison. You don't don't miss out on anything with the free version in my opinion.

It's also skinnable, what other AV can you make look like this?

OK

I am downloading it as I write.

It will be quite good as I think I have Avast AV on my Windows Home Server and I think that you can get the server copy to push the definitions out to the clients so they only have to be downloaded once

Never used it. I would recommend using WinPatrol

EDIT: I just did some research. RUBotted is basically useless. It won't block anything, rather it prompts you to use the Housecall online scanner "if" it detects anything. Useless!
