Google "Norton removal tool" and use Norton's tool to completely remove it, that tool is probably their best product. :p

Manual removal leaves lots of stuff still on your system.

Then get avg or avast, i prefer avast, both are free but i feel avast is better at removing viruses.

I have had many instances in the past where avg finds stuff but then says it cannot remove it.

The common view that Norton is good is just good marketing, don't buy into it.

Sorry don't agree. Norton is crap.

I wouldn't have it on my systems even if Norton sent a guy round once a year and installed it for me on all my systems for free, forever.

Yup, norton is crap.

For a test, do a system scan using Norton. Then 'switch Norton off' and use another AVirus software and do the same scan again. I'm pretty sure you'll get an interesting result.....

I would also agree with alex. Don't go for Norton. I am using aVast and since I have used AVG also I feel aVast is better. You can use aVast for free.

Avast is definitely better than AVG IMO.

Hmm... My ISP is a cable company that offers Norton and its upgrades as part of the service and I've been using it for about a year. I'm not pro-Norton or anything like that. Do you think that this ISP version would have any benefits over using Norton otherwise? There is some diagnostic software on my PC now that I don't recognize from the previous version of Norton that I bought.

Also, I used AVG for a few months after I had a visit from the sasser worm in 2004. Then at some point I could no longer update it. I'm not sure what happened there. I liked it while I was using it, for what that's worth.
